St Paul's Cathedral is the ideal venue to start placing bookings for 2007. St Paul's has two daytime meeting spaces, the Wren Suite and the Temple Bar, and an evening space at The Crypt.
The Wren Suite
The Wren Suite boasts two rooms, both with vaulted ceilings and golden stone walls. The main room can hold 75 people for a theatre style meeting, 36 people for a cabaret style meeting, and up to 32 people boardroom style. The room combines the peace and splendour of Sir Christopher Wren's neo-classical masterpiece with the comfort and convenience of 21st century facilities, including back-screen projection, inbuilt sound system, and wireless internet. In addition to the main room, the 'Beehive' is ideal for pre-meeting refreshments, receptions and breakout sessions. Having a pre-meeting breakfast in this room is also a great way to start the morning.
Temple Bar
Temple Bar marked the gateway to the City of London for 200 years. It was taken down stone by stone in 1877 and rebuilt at Theobalds Park, Hertfordshire, to form a grand entrance to a country estate. After suffering years of vandalism and neglect, the monument was returned to the City in late 2004 and now stands at Paternoster Square, opposite St Paul's Cathedral.
It is the only surviving gateway to the City of the original eight. The other gateways, Aldgate, Aldersgate, Bishopsgate, Cripplegate, Ludgate, Moorgate and Newgate, were all demolished before the end of the eighteenth century.
The Crypt
St Paul's Cathedral Crypt is the largest in Europe, and is a beautiful space for larger corporate events.
The inspiring surroundings are the final resting place of some of the nation's greatest heroes, poets and scientists including Sir Christopher Wren, Admiral Lord Nelson and the Duke of Wellington.
The Crypt at St Paul's Cathedral is therefore a unique venue for larger evening events, and the west end of the Crypt can accommodate up to 250 guests for dinner, and 350 for a standing reception.
When hiring the Crypt for a dinner, it is possible to book the Nelson Chamber for pre-dinner drinks; this is advisable when a large number of guests are attending. The Admiral's tomb stands proudly in a central vaulted space beneath the Cathedral's dome. With its atmospheric lighting, it is a wonderful setting for reception drinks.
